All bisque character doll with frozen head. Joints at the shoulders. Original label on the chest. Has a chunky body with stroked light brown hair. Flirty eyes looking to the side. He has no clothing but has formed black shoes with tan soles like the German dolls and has blue painted on socks. The style of this character doll looks like the German "My Fairy." He is marked (very faint) across the back of the shoulder Nippon. (Nippon era 1891-1921) This doll was made to fill in the void during WWI when there was an embargo against German imports with Japan copying German doll molds. The quality of this doll is excellent with lots of details like the hair strokes, quality bisque and painted on shoes.
